Ilya & Emilia Kabakov - Description

WYSIWYG default value

The Art Kiosk is thrilled to present the work of Ukrainian artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov.  Both artists were born and raised in Dnepropetrovsk, Soviet Union and are recognized as the most important Russian artists to have emerged in the late 20th century. Ilya’s early installations speak as much about conditions in post-Stalinist Russia as they do about the human condition universally. Their new works may be seen in leading museums around the world.

They are Flying is a massive new painting that will be on view in the form a large cylindrical lantern for Constellations: Global Reflections, the first art exhibition created for a G20 summit. Curator Lance Fung asked the Kabakovs to participate to represent both Russia and the Ukraine in this historic exhibition. One leading artist from each G20 member state has been commissioned to make a new artwork to be seen in Bali this November. Following the special pre-view for the G20, B20 and 020 summits, Constellations will be on view for the public to enjoy throughout much of 2023. We are very honored to have the opportunity to preview the Kabakov’s artwork as well as give the Bay Area a sneak peek of Constellations: Global Reflections. The full exhibition may be seen on www.fungcollaboratives.org in November.
