Paola is interested in adding to Benjamin Franklin Parkway’s interest in
architecture. The beauty and diversity of buildings intrigued her. She
also felt that there were gaps between buildings and wanted to fill one
gap temporarily with her artwork.
All four sides of the structure and the roof would be made of
transparent materials – either tempered glass or plexiglas. She hopes
that in the loca-on she has proposed, pedestrians and drivers could see
through the structure. However, if the location is an issue another one
could be found. The large box like form would be divided into grids.
Figura-ve forms would be randomly resting in a few spaces. They will
be made of opaque resin and have a white or pale yellow color.
Paola would like these figures to represent the spirit of Philadelphia.
The cycle of light for the individual figures should represent eternal
time. They are individuals in the day but become a collective experience
or sense of community when lit at night because in tandem they fill the
en-re chamber with a glowing quality.
