Nonument Thrown rope

Dimensions:  340 linear feet

33 planted trees: 11 of each of the following: American Yellowwood, Kobus Magnolia,

Bur Oak

This row of planted trees is to encourage the residents to come and use the park and watch the trees grow over the years.  They also help create different psychological spaces for the other artworks by subtly dividing the 1.5 acre lot into 5 exhibition spaces.  Since the city cannot maintain the trees in this particular location, I am donating them to other areas in the SW neighborhood and will be transplanted at the close of the Nonument exhibition.

My experience with the Nonument Exhibit was very positive.  I particularly enjoyed working with a getting to know the other artists.  I was also pleased with your help in making this all possible.  Since living in Provincetown I must say that I have not had a lot of contact with other artists, working alone – although I chose this and enjoy it!  As  I mentioned in the short talk at the Philips, I had always wanted to work with trees and I am very excited at the idea of creating something in Japan, for which I would like to thank Jennifer for suggesting  that it might take place.  That was an unexpected outcome entirely.  I do like the FC attitude about these outside, temporary works.  It is very freeing not having to worry about sales  and galleries. Hoping to do further cooperations.
