“All eyes on you! is a collaborative work with the children of CASA Circulo Cultural, with a focus on their creativity and playful take on the world, while augmenting it with robotics to create an interactive experience.
The installation aims for a balance between the conflicting ideas of playful interaction and the uneasiness of being watched. While empty masks often invoke an uncanny feeling, with children’s creativity and personality shining through they become odd and interesting reflections of the human psyche looking back at the viewer.
The sudden jolt of realizing you are being watched is likely a shared experience for all. Considering that with modern technology and institutions, the mechanisms of surveillance have grown to previously unimaginable capabilities. That jolt is quickly becoming a societal issue. The robotic component is there to both highlight and make light of this ever watching new world.” Berkay Bugdan
