“The artwork titled Mi Hogar, Mi Amor, Mi Vida (My Home, My Love, My Life) is an oil painting created on two large canvases, each measuring 7′ x 8′. The painting depicts mountains in the background with Redwood City buildings in the foreground to the right. With a male and female viewers, one on each side, one is looking towards the beautiful nature and the other to the elegant architecture of Redwood City. Lively colors engulf the painting bringing together nature and this wonderful City together into one.
Born and raised in Redwood City, I have lived here all my life. I attended Hoover Elementary School from kindergarten to eighth grade and went on to Woodside High School. I fondly remember visiting my aunt’s restaurant, Amelia’s, located in downtown Redwood City as a child. I still love walking through the streets of downtown and seeing all the historic buildings, such as: the Fox Theater, Bank of San Mateo, and the Old Courthouse.
When I was a child, this city felt so small to me, and through the years, I have had the opportunity to see it grow right before my very eyes. With all the new buildings creating fresh and exciting opportunities, Redwood City has blossomed into such a great city that I proudly call home. That’s why included all the beautiful architecture that one can see around the city, including my old elementary school and the gorgeous mountains in the distance. It’s everything I love about this city that I feel privileged to call “my home, my love, my life”.
As an artist and a resident of Redwood City, I feel it is my responsibility to share the beautiful aspects this city has to offer and to document some of the past and potential future as it continues to evolve. My composition ranges from the stunning nature we love to see, to the structures that help run this city that forever continues to build it into a place for new generations.”
